This one’s all about RUIN

This one’s all about RUIN, book three of the Faithful and the Fallen.

Ruin is out in hardback and ebook in the UK on the 16th July, so only a couple of weeks to go, now. A box-of-books turned up on my doorstep – my author copies come a little early. My wife Caroline and I took a few photos of them in the garden, and the dogs decided to get involved.

RUIN can be purchased from all of the usual places:

There are also a couple of other editions that you may be interested in.

Goldsboro Books is an independent bookshop specialising in signed first editions. I LOVE Goldsboro Books. It is situated in Cecil Court, Covent Garden, London, and is one of those places that you can wander into and easily lose a few hours, its shelves stacked with so many rare and wonderful gems. * A bit of random trivia for you – apparently Cecil Court was J.K Rowling’s original inspiration for Diagon Alley. *

I first met the owner of Goldsboro Books, David Headley, at Herstmonceux Medieval Festival. I wandered into a tent with my son Edward and my brand new Dane-Axe over my shoulder and found him running a stall selling books (of course). Goldsboro Books have been hugely supportive of the Faithful and the Fallen, and so they are running a limited signed first edition of Ruin.

Apparently their initial stock sold out in pre-orders, so if you check in with them and RUIN is not available, don’t panic, more are on the way.

You can also find something different featuring Ruin over at Quill and Claw. This is a website set up by fans for fans. They are quite unique, in that they offer very limited runs that are not only signed by the author but in which you can request a favourite line to be quoted, and/or a doodle by the author. For example, one of the orders already submitted has asked for me to doodle Storm in the front pages alongside my signature. I think this a great opportunity to have something uniquely personalised. If that is something you’d be interested in, the link is below.

There’s one other thing I’d like to tell you about. If you’re in the London vicinity on the 16th July my publishers have arranged for me to do a signing at Forbidden Planet Megastore, from 6-7pm. Afterwards the idea is to head on over to the Phoenix Artists Club for a pint of something cold and a more informal chat about all things Banished Lands with anyone who wishes to join me. If this sounds like something you’d like to do please feel free to turn up. If you’d like more details just email via the contact us page.

These are very exciting days for me. Book three done and about to be set loose upon the world, and also I’m writing book four right now, which is the final instalment in the Faithful and the Fallen. It’s a strange affair, both wonderful to be writing scenes that I’ve been imagining for over twelve years, but also a little bittersweet, to be saying goodbye to characters that have really become part of my life for such a long time.

I hope that you’ve all enjoyed the journey so far. I certainly have.
