Publication Day

Malice had its publication day yesterday so I set off to London with my son Edward. First stop was the Pan Macmillan offices. When you walk in the door the first thing you see is a wall of books!

I met up here with my lovely editor Julie Crisp, and the rest of the staff at Team Tor – a great bunch of people.

I signed some stock here, then headed off to Covent Garden for a wonderful lunch with Julie Crisp and her Editorial Assistant Louise Buckley.

Straight off to Goldsboro Books after lunch to sign 500 special edition copies.

Seeing 500 copies of Malice in a pile was quite something!

With a team effort the books were signed in good time – a production line of book-passers, openers, and stackers, with me signing in the middle. Then it was off to Forbidden Planet to sign some more stock.

After this we finished off the day with a reading from Paul Cornell, whose novel London Falling was also published yesterday. And what a thoroughly nice chap he was.

As we were leaving I had my first sight of Malice on the bookshelf of a bookshop! Woo-hoo.

Then it was back on the train and home to Eastbourne. Got home late, tired and smiling!

  1. I finished “Malice” and it is on the Review and Recommendation shelf! I’m a school librarian and always on the lookout for books to recommend for both eager and not-so-eager readers. This is a wonderful book, lots of action, fully-realized characters and a great story. My students are going to love it and I’ve passed the word to my fellow librarians in other schools. West Michigan is going to love John Gwynne!

    • Thanks Dave – really glad you enjoyed Malice – that means a lot. I’ve just finished writing book 2, so hopefully the wait won’t be too long.

  2. Really enjoyed the free sample of ‘Malice’ on Kindle, and bought the complete edition today. I’m loving it so far – it’s refreshing to read a multi-viewpoint fantasy where each character is equally intriguing, and the sense of history and scope is already very convincing. Addictive stuff!
